With 'cricket' as a first opportunity
Stands out as 'International hub city'

'Sano Cricket Challenge !!! ' started in July 2018 as a regional revitalization project. Through various initiatives such as facilities, mechanisms, and planning, we will increase the number of people involved and interact then challenge the activation of Sano City!

Sano International Cricket Ground（SICG）
The only cricket ground in Japan with the size of an international standard
We aim to make the vast field of beautiful natural grass a “cricket sacred place” that Sano City can be proud of. Also, as a “comfortable space” for the general public, we will create new value as “Sano City International Community Ground -SICG-”.

Why cricket?

Major sports

That’s not well-known in Japan but it is the second most popular sport in the world after soccer. There are over 1 billion fans, and the player population is over 300 million. The world's top players earn an annual income of 3 billion yen.

The headquarters of the Japan Cricket Association is in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture.

The Japan Cricket Association has been committed to the spread and strengthening of cricket in Japan.

With the Association's steady efforts, many cricket players and other related people from Commonwealth of Nations, Asian countries as well as Japan, visit Sano through games, competitions and tourism.

The sport called ‘Cricket’ transcend “nationality, race, gender, religion” and connect us to people, cultures and businesses around the world.

Cricket is not well known in Japan, but therefore it has great potential.

We will continue to update the city with “fun, learning and acting”
